Our Story
We are the Linary Church of Christ. Our name tells our story ...
Linary
Our home is here in southern Cumberland County, Tennessee - serving the community of Crossville and surrounding areas. Our congregation serves as the focal point of the Linary farming community, located just outside the city limits of Crossville.
Founded in the 1880's, the church has moved locations twice in its 130 year history and occupied three buildings. The first services of the Linary Church of Christ were held in the late 1880's.The first church building was a small log house utilized as both a church and the community school house. The property for the church building and adjacent cemetery was donated by Captain Robert Swan. The second building that housed the church and the cemetary still exist just down the road from our present location. The present building has been enlarged twice, the latest addition nearly doubling the size of the footprint, opened in October 2005. From the very beginning to the present, the Linary Church has sought to minister to the needs of the local community by being a source of good, a fountain of hope, and the hands and feet of Jesus among the lives we touch.
Church
We are a spiritual home for those around us. As members of one body, we seek to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3). As a light in our community, we seek to serve those around us as well as be a place of peace for those in chaos, a place of forgiveness for those who feel the burden of guilt, and a place of hope for the weary in life. We are an independent, non-denominational fellowship of Christian people who accept and express love to those in need while encouraging all believers to put aside man-made creeds of all kinds and worship the King of Kings. We call ourselves "Christians (Acts 11:26) and use the Bible as our only rule of faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Our focus is to be disciples who make disciples as commanded to us by Matthew 28:18-20.
of Christ
We boldly proclaim that all of God's best gifts are wrapped in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that the teachings of Jesus are the foundation to a stable life and a guide by which to live. We believe that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ gives us the opportunity to have peace with God and the promise of heaven¦which brings hope for life in a world of uncertainty. You'll find that the grace of Jesus Christ is a common thread that runs through every ministry and is the reason for our expression of praise.
